You Might Break
07:57

You might pulverize bones on it
You might break off a brittle bit
And bury it here
You might memorize lengths and routes
With the smallest steps in the deepest grooves
And your split plum pit
With the poison in it
Through the wires and ways
You might plumb the eyes in their lids
Where the charge goes out
And the light comes in upside-down
Iris around the hole the light comes in caves in
Therein the inverse buried like a bone
Never upright the world that light projects
Askew against the retina
As sunk as a stone

Japanese Beetle
04:42
|
|||
Come faint through greenish glass
On your belly or your back
Center of a ripple
Watery wires
Harsh light, this light
On dim, on slight
And so from fish to fish we go
Mutated slow
And gone in a gulp
Ghost and all
Broken off
Beetle shell
Green and then
Copper-colored

Plum

Secret in a soft shell, do tell
See-through sarcophagus for us
And we, cargoes in common,
Bound for the apocalypse
With our poison pits
And our code showing through
And our clockwork rattling
Stars shoot, people flicker
Wires in knots
A scratch on the eye
That the world whistles by
A swath through the trees
For dead power lines
Stars shoot, people flicker
Mantis mid-air
Plums in the heat
With sour little seeds
Swaths through the words
Where our curses are kept
Stars shoot, people flicker
Come a glitch and a loosening stitch
Window in’s just a thin fissure out
Bone and gut, just a signal stuck
With no route from the loop looping now
Come a frame when we fall away
And the camera follows us down
And the lack that we leave’s a shape
That the world carefully curls around
Come a son to carry on
And a cell to sink us all
And the lack when each is gone
Is a shell the world is shattered in
In the blood coming through the cut
Circulate a certain fate through us now
In the blood, busted helix rung
Sequence in and silence out
In the way that the words all stick
To the pipes as they pass through
In the way that the sound is caught
Where the nerves are tangled, too
In the view that we’re tethered to
And the void at its very edge
In the view that breaks the world in two
What we see/what we dream we see
In the sound of the room coming up
Through the cracks in his sentences
In the sound that we make when we learn
What the length of our lingering is
In the love that holds us up
Even as we’re lowered down
